The Kelowna Lower Mission Residence touches on a number of different architectural styles from traditional to contemporary.

 

While quite traditional architectural design on the front elevation of the home, upon entry to the home you are greeted with a new aesthetic that the homeowners have coined "fresh, vintage, modern." Traditional sloping hipped roofs mixed with modern massing, attention to scale and quality materials make this a one of a kind home that will most certainly stand the test of time.

 

The traditional exterior of the home was developed due to neighbourhood guidelines which require a minimum 6:12 roof slope. Our client's initially wanted a very modern looking home but due to the guidelines we were tasked with designing a home that respected the overall context of the neighbourhood but also brought some of our contemporary style into the mix.

 

With 4,400 sf of finished floor space, the main floor consists of a living, dining and kitchen area, a flex room, a grand piano/library room, main entrance, powder room and a large mud room complete with lockers, bench seating and a computer nook just off of the garage entrance. With the common theme of "Bring the Outdoors In" in all of our designs, the entire living area opens up to a covered balcony via a folding window wall which creates a 12'-0" wide by 8'-0" tall opening that allows the living area to be totally opened up to the exterior covered balcony.

 

The second floor is made up of the stunning master suite with large ensuite bathroom, walk in closet, reading nook and private second floor balcony. There are two additional bedrooms along with a "jack and jill" bathroom, a laundry room and an office.

 

The basement includes a large family room complete with bar, two additional bedrooms, a full bathroom, mechanical room and storage room.

 

Throughout the interior of the home is a mix of the traditional architectural aesthetic that is found on the exterior of the home mixed with a modern, contemporary take on the traditional look.

 

What makes this home so special and unique is the level of detail that we put into our custom designed homes. From selecting and recommending everything on the exterior from the cladding, trim, windows, roofing, paving and wall assemblies composition, we develop and design homes down to the smallest of details. The interior design package includes full kitchen design and material selection including cabinet material, countertops, fixtures and even hardware. All of the built in shelving, seating, lockers, desks, walk-in closets, bookcases and cabinets are custom designed to perfectly suit the space to provide a consistent tailored look through the home.
